Liverpool 0-1 Brighton: Klopp’s men slip to their second home defeat in the league

Jurgen Klopp-Liverpool

Liverpool slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Brighton in the Premier League earlier tonight.

The Reds have now lost two consecutive games at home after having stayed unbeaten at Anfield for four years.

Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed with the lack of fight and determination from his players against Brighton.

Liverpool looked bereft of ideas and devoid of creativity against a well organised Brighton defence and Graham Potter’s side thoroughly deserved the win tonight.

Alzate scored the only goal of the game in the second half  and the Reds had enough time to grab an equaliser after that.

Liverpool were without Alisson and Mane tonight along with their several injury issues at the back.

The Reds had just one shot on target all game and they will have to improve immensely if they want to secure Champions League qualification this season.

The title race seems well beyond them right now and Manchester City could pull further clear at the top of the table if they manage to beat the Reds at Anfield later this week.

Liverpool created just one clear cut opportunity for themselves tonight that Mohamed Salah failed to convert in the opening minutes of the game.

Brighton have now kept four consecutive clean sheets and they would have been rewarded for their desire and persistence throughout the 90 minutes.

The Seagulls are now up to 15th in the Premier League table and Liverpool dropped down to 4th after Leicester city’s win earlier in the day.
