Chelsea beat Manchester United 3-1 in the FA Cup semi-final last night.
Goals from Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount and an own goal from Harry Maguire ensured an impressive win for Frank Lampard’s side.
Bruno Fernandes scored a consolation goal for the Red Devils from the penalty spot.
Manchester United will be thoroughly disappointed with their performance, and they will be hoping to bounce back strongly in the league now. Champions League qualification is at stake, and United cannot afford to play the way they did last night.
It remains to be seen whether the players can react accordingly in their next game now. Solskjaer will demand a big performance from his players in the remaining games of the season.
Meanwhile, the win will give Chelsea tremendous morale boost, and they will fancy their chances of finishing in the top three now and winning the FA Cup.
If that happens, it will be a hugely successful season for Frank Lampard. Chelsea are in a rebuilding phase right now and to finish in the top three and deliver a trophy while blooding youngsters is a great achievement.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can go all the way now. They will be up against their London rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
Arsenal managed to beat Manchester City in the other semi-final last week, and they cannot be underestimated.
