Fulham beat Cardiff 3-2 to reach Championship playoff final

Premier League spot up for grabs on Championship final day

Fulham reached the Championship playoff final after a 3-2 aggregate win over Cardiff City.

They managed to win the first leg 2-0 away from home and they are now through to the final despite losing 2-1 at home.

Cardiff started the game well and took the lead through Nelson on the 8th minute. But Fulham got back into the game a minute later through Kebano.

The away side took the lead once again through Tomlin, two minutes after the restart. Fulham struggled to get back into the game after that and Cardiff held on for a win.

Fulham will be relieved to have won the tie on aggregate. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the playoff final now.

Brentford have done well against Swansea and they will fancy their chances against Fulham. The Londoners will have to perform a lot better than they did against Cardiff last night.

It will be interesting to see who comes back up to the Premier League in the end.

Fulham manager Scott Parker knew his side’s performance was not good enough on the night. Speaking to the media after the game, he said: “They put the ball in the box from all over the pitch, and we didn’t deal with that well enough. We didn’t put our stamp on the game. We were nervous. But we won the game over two legs, and did a good job away from home, so we move on and it’s up for grabs. Come the end of the game we’ve not totally folded. We are disappointed in our performance tonight, but Tuesday will be a different game and we need to stay bright and positive.”
