Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli had a torrid time at the London club last season, and he was heavily linked with a move away from the Premier League.
Paris Saint-Germain wanted to sign the 25-year-old midfielder during the January transfer window.
The midfielder struggled to hold down a regular starting berth under Jose Mourinho, and the Portuguese manager often criticised him.
Reflecting on his mediocre season last year, the midfielder has now revealed that he does not blame Mourinho for his problems, and he took responsibility for his failures.
Furthermore, the midfielder added that he learnt a lot from Mourinho last season, and he is working hard to win his place back in the starting lineup next season.
Speaking to Goal, he said: “The only person I blame is myself. I should be performing at a level where it is difficult to not put me in the team or not play me. I don’t blame anyone but myself. Working with Mourinho was a great experience and one I learned a lot from.”
The 25-year-old was regarded as one of the finest talents in English football before Jose Mourinho arrived, and it will be interesting to see if he can regain his form and confidence.
There is no doubt that he can be a key player for Tottenham next season. The fans will undoubtedly be delighted to see that the player is not making any excuses for a poor season and is taking responsibility for his own failures.
The positive mentality from the midfielder will certainly impress the new manager Nuno Espirito Santo as well, and it will be interesting to see if he can help the 25-year-old playmaker regain his sharpness.
