The Uruguayan is back among the goals as Atletico drub Elche.

Atletico Madrid are back to winning ways after defeating Elche 3-1 at home.

The Colchoneros saw their winning streak getting ended by their local rivals Real Madrid last week and as a result, they needed a win before they entered the game today.

Luis Suarez opened the account before the half-time as the Uruguayan made the most of Kieran Trippier’s cross from the right flank.

The former Barcelona striker added another goal to his tally in the 58th minute when he slotted the ball past Edgar Badia, latching on to the low drilled cross of Yannick Carrasco.

The visitors pulled back one later after Boye headed the ball past Jan Oblak.

But Elche’s chances of a come back was ended once and for all when Diego Costa scored the third goal for Atletico from the penalty spot.

Atletico Madrid have produced a comprehensive win after the last week’s disappointing 2-0 defeat against Los Blancos.

Nonetheless, Colchoneros are still the leaders of the La Liga table, three points clear of Real Sociedad.

Another important aspect of the game was Suarez returning to the scoring form after going goalless since the game against Cadiz.

The Uruguayan has now racked up a total of 7 goals and is currently the joint top scorer in La Liga alongside Iago Aspas and Mikel Oyarzabal.

Atletico will next face Sociedad in what looks like an exciting encounter.
