Cadiz

Cadiz ended the previous year with a positive result as they held La Liga leaders, Real Madrid, to a 0-0 away draw.

However, the result was Cadiz’s second consecutive draw, bringing their winless run to five matches in the league.

The home team have drawn four of their last eight matches in La Liga. They have scored an average of 0.83 goals per game since the beginning of the season in the league. But over the last eight, their goal tally have increased by 20.5%, as they are averaged 1.0 goals per game in that period.

However, when comparing their overall result this season with last season, one will find that Cadiz have not made progress. Álvaro Cervera’s side have won 14 points this season, which is nine points less than they had at this stage last season.

They are currently sitting in 19th place and will need to pick up points at a faster rate to avoid dropping to the lower division after two seasons at the top flight.

Possible Cadiz starting line-ups

Jeremias Ledesma, Carlos Akapo, Fali, Marcos Mauro, Pacha Espino, Jens Jonsson, Tomas Alarcon, Milutin Osmajic, Alex Fernandez, Alvaro Jimenez, Alvaro Negredo.

Injured: Jon Ander Garrido, Jose Mari

Doubtful: Iza, Alberto Perea, Ivan Alejo, Salvi Sanchez, Victor Chust, Ruben Sobrino, Anthony Lozano, Santiago Arzamendia

Suspended: Juan Cala

Sevilla

Sevilla will look to continue their positive run in La Liga this year when they travel to Cadiz on Monday.

In their last outing, the visitors were held to a 1-1 home draw against FC Barcelona. The result extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the league.

Julen Lopetegui‘s men entered the winter break sitting in second place, eight points behind leaders Real Madrid.

They have won five of their last eight matches in La Liga. Overall, they have scored an average of 1.61 goals per game since the beginning of the season in the league. But over the past eight games, they have scored 1.50 goals per game, which is 6.8% lower than their current season’s average.

That wouldn’t be something to worry about for them, though, given that they still have one of the best win-rate in La Liga this season. With 38 points so far this season, Sevilla FC have picked up five points more than they did last season after 18 matches.

Their aim for the season remains to finish as high as possible in the table. A shot at the title is still possible as they are just eight points behind Real Madrid. But they will know that it will take a miracle to shoot down the La Liga record holders this season.

A win here will at least give them the needed momentum to go the distance in the title race.

Possible Sevilla starting line-ups

Marko Dmitrovic, Gonzalo Montiel, Fernando, Nemanja Gudelj, Ludwig Augustinsson, Joan Jordan, Thomas Delaney, Ivan Rakitic, Lucas Ocampos, Rafa Mir, Papu Gomez.

Injured: Suso, Erik Lamela

Doubtful: Oliver Torres, Gonzalo Montiel, Marcos Acuna, Jesus Navas, Youssef En-Nesyri, Karim Rekik, Diego Carlos

Suspended: Jules Kounde
