Villarreal

Villarreal will look to get back to winning ways in the league when they welcome Osasuna to Valencia on Monday.

After starting the season strongly, the hosts have endured a rough patch and come into this game without a win in their last four league games (D2, L2). Their last league outing was a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad, which took their points tally for the season to 12 points (W3, D3, L2).

Having secured their progress through the UEFA Europa Conference League as expected with a 1-0 away win against Austria Vienna, they can devote more energy and attention to trying to qualify domestically for 2023/24 European action.

Unai Emery will hope that he can begin that quest with a home win against an Osasuna side they haven’t won in their last three head-to-heads. But considering that they haven’t tasted defeat at home this season, they will fancy their chances of getting a positive result.

Possible Villarreal starting line-up

Gerónimo Rulli; Kiko Femenia, Raul Albiol, Pau Francisco Torres, Alfonso Pedraza; Daniel Parejo, Etienne Capoue, Francis Coquelin, Giovani Lo Celso; Yéremi Pino, A. D. Groeneveld

Injured: None

Doubtful: Gerard Moreno, Juan Foyth

Suspended: None

Osasuna

Like their hosts, Osasuna enjoyed a strong start to the season but have been poor in recent outings.

The visitors were beaten 1-0 by Valencia last time out, taking their points tally for the season to 13 points after eight games (W4, D1, L3). Their most recent loss made it three league games without a win for Jagoba Arrasate’s side.

Their poor record in recent games have been caused by their poor discipline in recent weeks, as Osasuna have received four red cards in three matches (D1, L2).

Whilst they had conceded just one goal with a man down in that time, it has certainly disrupted the attacking flow that carved out four wins from their first five La Liga matches this season.

But with their last two away games ending in a win and a draw, they will fancy their chances of extending their winning run against Villarreal to four consecutive games.

Possible Osasuna starting line-up

Sergio Herrera; Nacho Vidal, Aridane Hernandez, Manu Sanchez, Juan Cruz; Moi Gomez, Jon Moncayola, Lucas Torro, Aimar Oroz Huarte, Abde Ezzalzouli; Kike.

Injured: Kiko Saverio

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Unai Garcia, Ruben Pena

Prediction

Villarreal 1-1 Osasuna
