PSG

After an impressive 4-1 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League, PSG return to League action this Sunday, looking to end a two-game winless run in the French top-flight.

The Parisians were breathtaking in midweek, scoring four goals through Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, who scored two each. The result made it three wins in the UCL this season, but it was not enough to give them the top spot in the group.

But in the domestic league, they have drawn their last two games. First, a 0-0 draw with Nice followed by a 1-1 draw with Lens last weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side remains on top of the league table though, and are ahead of the rest by eleven points. Their place at the top is not under any threat at the moment.

But they cannot continue to drop points at this rate or they risk having their lead wiped off by Rennes, who are churning out wins recently.

They remain undefeated on home soil in all competitions this season (W10, D1) but cannot take this for granted given that they have only won 21% of the top-flight home meetings with Monaco in the 21st century – that is their worst win percentage against any Ligue 1 side they have faced at least twice.

Possible PSG starting line-ups

Gianluigi Donnarumma; Juan Bernat, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Achraf Hakimi; Idrissa Gueye, Danilo Pereira, Marco Verratti; Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, Kylian Mbappe.

Injured: Neymar, Sergio Ramos, Julian Draxler

Doubtful: None

Monaco

After securing their European destiny last Thursday, Monaco travel to Paris full of confidence. The visitors drew 1-1 with Sturm Graz to secure passage into the next round of the Europa League.

They face the league leaders on a good run of form, having not lost any of their last eight games (W3, D5).

They have won each of their previous two Ligue 1 games by a 2+ goal margin, scoring seven goals across those two matches, more than in their previous six matches combined.

Niko Kovač’s men are sitting just one point off a European spot ahead of this weekend and are now looking to put pressure on the team occupying the top five positions.

However, they are going through a poor spell away from home in recent times as they have failed to score in three of their last four league road trips. Kovac will hope his side can put up an outstanding performance this time and push themselves into the European spots on the table.

Possible Monaco starting line-ups

Alexander Nubel; Axel Disasi, Guillermo Maripan, Caio Henrique; Gelson Martins, Youssouf Fofana, Aurelien Tchouameni, Sofiane Diop, Ismail Jakobs; Wissam Ben Yedder, Myron Boadu.

Injured: Cesc Fabregas, Krepin Diatta

Doubtful: Benoit Badiashile

Suspended: Kevin Volland

PSG 4-2 Monaco
