While a measure of titles can estimate the greatness of a sporting entity, it is certainly not the sole aspect that should determine the progress of the team or player in question. Case in point: Leicester City. The Foxes have successfully cemented their place among the Premier League elites in the past few seasons. However, they only have three domestic titles in the last five years to show for their constructed and electrifying style of play. Similarly, there have been a plethora of players who have wooed the audiences with their astounding footballing skills but failed to accumulate any piece of major silverware. On that note, let’s take a look at the 5 greatest players who failed to win a single notable trophy throughout their careers.

5. Antonio Di Natale

Kicking off our list in fifth place is Italian striker Antonio Di Natale. One of the most underrated forwards of the modern generation, Di Natale was a stalwart for Udinese, scoring 227 goals in 445 games for Le Zebrette. With Udinese failing to secure any meaningful title in the 14 years that Di Natale spent at the club, his only chance to win at a major tournament came in the form of Euro 2012. Having scored 11 times in 42 caps for Italy, the veteran forward had to witness the demolition of his dreams as a rampant Spain dismantled his side 4-0 in the final, ending any hopes for a potential trophy. https://twitter.com/AlexisHive/status/1455511715106500609

4. Matt Le Tissier

A one-club man throughout his footballing journey, Matt Le Tissier never dared to lay eyes on any other team other than Southampton. Nevertheless, his loyalty to his boyhood club was the major reason behind his incessant trophy drought. The Englishman spent 15 years being contracted to the Saints’ senior squad, racking up a whopping 183 goal contributions in 372 appearances. Unfortunately, Southampton’s dreadful form in the 90s meant that Le Tissier failed to win any significant title during his career, hanging up his boots for good in 2013.

3. Giuseppe Signori

An iconic Italian forward with 268 career goals under his belt, Giuseppe Signori played the majority of his senior football for middling sides like Bologna and Calcio Foggia. However, Signori did spend six years in the Italian capital, turning out for Lazio. Despite possessing a cracker of a left foot, the legendary forward failed to guide I Biancocelesti to a single piece of silverware during his stay. To add insult to injury, Lazio managed to secure a Coppa Italia win just months after Signori’s departure.

2. Bernd Schneider

Back in the early 2000s, Bayern Leverkusen were a much more dominant side in Germany than they are at the current stage. And at the heart of their flourishing attack was Bernd Schneider. The versatile attacker was capable of playing on both flanks as well as at the center of the pitch. Despite his varying abilities, Schneider failed to win any trophy with both Leverkusen and Germany, finishing second in the Bundesliga twice, losing the German Cup finals on two occasions, and ending as the runner-up in both the World Cup as well as the Champions League final.

1. Harry Kane

The only active player on the list, Harry Kane still has ample time to secure at least one significant title in his career. However, his allegiances with Spurs could hamper his chances to win any silverware as it has been 13 years since Tottenham last won a major trophy in the form of a League Cup. His time with England has also reaped no title so far, with a final appearance in Euro 2020 being his closest shot. At 28, Kane desperately needs a transfer to a bigger team in an attempt to break his title-duck or else, the Englishman with over 290 career goals could end his career, trophyless.
