Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has hit out at the club’s past transfer business.

During the January transfer window, the Londoners had to let go of a few French players.

Bryan Gil, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani lo Celso have all been sent out on loan to Valencia, Lyon and Villarreal, respectively.

Meanwhile, Dele Alli was sold permanently to Everton.

All four players have struggled to establish themselves as key performers for the London club, and Tottenham had to let them leave last month.

Conte believes that four players had to be shifted from the club’s books during the January transfer window shows that numerous mistakes were made in the transfer market in the past.

The Italian revealed that players are signed to reinforce the squad, and when a club has to let go of several players that were signed recently, the transfer decisions taken in the past are usually wrong.

He said to Guardian: “For sure, it was strange to send [three] on loan and sell one player in January because it means something went wrong in the past,” Conte said. “Usually, you have to buy players to reinforce your team. But if you send away players on a loan you bought in the last two or three years, it means maybe you did something wrong. It will be very important to not make mistakes in the future because at this moment, and many teams are higher than us.”

However, the manager believes that the signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur could help improve the squad this month.

It will be interesting to see if the two players can settle in quickly and make an immediate impact in the Premier League now.

Tottenham are still some way off their Premier League rivals, and they will have to keep improving the squad to challenge for the Premier League title in the future.

Antonio Conte has done a stellar job at every club he has been, and the Tottenham fans will be hoping that he can bring in the necessary reinforcements and transform the squad over the next few months.

Tottenham have certainly shown improvement since the arrival of the Italian manager, and it will be interesting to see if they can finish the season strongly and secure a place in the top four.
