Chelsea’s Mason Mount valued higher than Premier League superstars

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been in outstanding form this season and he has established himself as one of the key players under Thomas Tuchel.

The 22 year old is undoubtedly one of the best young players in the Premier League right now and it is no surprise that CIES football Observatory value him (£93.6 million) higher than the likes of Kevin de Bruyne (£61.7million) and Harry Kane (£91.9 million).

CIES football observatory ranks footballers subjectively according to their age, talent and potential.

Mount is a lot younger than Kane and de Bruyne and therefore he is highly valued on the list.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford (£142.2million) is the most valuable player according to the rankings and Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland (£130 million) is in the second spot.

The likes of De Bruyne and Harry Kane are world-class footballers and it is fair to claim that Mason Mount is nowhere near that level just yet but he certainly has the potential to reach that level in future.

The two players are far more important to their teams as compared to Mount right now.

Also in terms of the real transfer value, both players are likely to cost much more than Mason Mount in the transfer window right now.

These rankings are often branded as fictitious and it wouldn’t be surprising if most fans disagreed with them. However, it has to be noted that the rankings are hugely based on the potential of the player and not his current standing in the game.
