Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham: Kane, Vinicius goals and Electric Moura send Spurs into the top six

Carlos Vinicius-Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur boosted their top-four hopes with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane score in either half to secure all three points with Jose Mourinho side.

Tottenham needed a comfortable win tonight after the disastrous performance in the Europa League and the defeat against Arsenal. The fans will be relatively pleased with the response from the players against Aston Villa.

Jose Mourinho was without a couple of key players in Son Heung Min and Toby Alderweireld. However, the London side managed to defend well without the Belgian and Vinicius did well to fill in for the South Korean attacker.

Meanwhile, Spurs were boosted with the return of Giovani lo Celso who was sidelined for several weeks.

Vinicius opened the scoring with a tap in from close range after a fantastic link-up play between Lucas Moura and Harry Kane.

The Tottenham captain also managed to scored his 17th goal of the campaign and he is now in the lead for the race for the Golden Boot. Kane converted from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Matty Cash in the second half.

Aston Villa failed to create any meaningful chance and Lloris had a comfortable night out for the Londoners.

The win tonight takes Spurs up to 6th in the Premier League table with 48 points and Aston Villa drop down to 10th with 41 points.
