Aston Villa have reportedly agreed on a deal to sign Watford and Senegal winger Ismaila Sarr.
The 24-year-old was absent from the Watford squad for their Championship clash with Preston North End on Saturday.
Although Sarr’s manager Rob Edwards suggested that the Senegal international omission was because of injury. But according to Sky Sports, Sarr’s absence from the squad was down to his imminent move to Aston Villa.
According to the report, the two clubs have agreed on a deal worth £25million plus add-ons for the 24-year-old.
Sarr joined Watford from Rennes in 2019 and has netted 25 goals in 95 appearances for the Hornets.
The Senegal international has been a key figure for the club since his arrival at Vicarage Road. He boasted 23 goal contributions during the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2021. Last season he scored five goals in the top flight but could not help the Hornets avoid relegation to the Championship.
His addition will be an enormous boost for an Aston Villa side that is struggling this season. Steven Gerrard’s side have lost two of their opening league games this season. Their last outing was a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday, leaving them with just three wins in 14 games.
Although Gerrard has a variety of wide options at his disposal, his side scored just three goals so far this season.
Should Sarr join, he will be the fifth permanent signing for Aston Villa this season after Diego Carlos, Boubacar Kamara, Philippe Coutinho, and Robin Olsen joined permanently this summer.
