Liverpool’s miserable away form continues with a draw against Newcastle

Liverpool sweep Chelsea aside as Thiago sets passing record in 2-0 win

Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw against Newcastle United in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Jurgen Klopp will be thoroughly disappointed with his team’s finishing tonight and the Reds have now failed to score in a Premier League game for the first time in 22 matches.

Liverpool remain on top of the table despite the draw tonight but Manchester United could close the gap with them if the Red Devils manage to win their game in hand.

Newcastle started the game really well and they had a couple of very good chances in the first quarter.

The likes of Callum Wilson and Yedlin had impressive chances in the first quarter of the game but they were denied by a couple of excellent tackles from Fabinho and Robertson.

Liverpool grew into the game as the first half progressed and the Champions managed to carve out a series of clear cut chances throughout the game.

Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah had excellent chances to put the visitors ahead but both players missed a couple of chances each.

Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow was in inspired form tonight and he has now kept his first clean sheet for Newcastle United in three years.

Fabian Schar was flawless at the back for Newcastle and he was instrumental to securing a draw against Liverpool tonight.

The Reds have now dropped eight points against Newcastle, Fulham, West Brom and Brighton. They will have to do a lot better against the weaker sides if they want to retain their Premier League title this season.
