Inter 3-1 Bologna: Hakimi scores two, as Inter Milan register a home win

Inter Milan secured a vital win on Saturday against Bologna to move to within two points of leaders AC Milan.

The two goals from Archaf Hakimi and a Romelu Lukaku strike was enough to give Antonio Contes men all three points and hand the initiative back to AC Milan who play on Sunday.

The hosts got off the mark in the 16th minute through Romelu Lukaku, who scored his 12th goal of the season in Serie A to set Inter on their way to a win. The Belgian was on hand to fire home for the hosts after he had been set up by Ivan Perisic following a fast counter.

Archaf Hakimi then doubled Inter’s lead on the stroke of half-time, this time through Brozovic was the provider, with a gorgeous pass to find the right back.

Inter could have added to their tally after their restart, but Lukaku and Sanchez were guilty of missing good chances. The hosts continued to attack but found Skorupski in the Bologna goal hard to beat.

With Inter unable to increase their tally, the visitors pulled one back in the 67th minute through an Emanuel Vignato strike in the 67th minute. But Hakimi ensured that the tow goal cushion remained. This time the defender went on a daring solo run from the halfway line before unleashing a ferocious shot that Skorupski couldn’t keep out.

The strike was enough to settle the tie and hand Inter all three points. Antonio Conte’s men will now turn their attention to the crunch Champions League tie with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday while Bologna prepares to face Roma next.
