Raul Jimenez-Wolves

Wolves have edged out Leeds with a narrow win at Elland Road.

Wolves have beaten Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road, thanks to a late strike from Raul Jimenez.

Both the teams had their chances in the first half although Leeds looked more in control of the game. Wolves winger Daniel Podence had his shot denied by Illan Meslier at the stroke of the half time.

Nuno Santo’s men slowly established control and became dominant in the second half.

Podence gave tough times to Leeds’ defenders but he couldn’t get past the young goalkeeper, who made another fine save from the Portuguese winger.

Wolves nearly had their lead at the 55th minute as Saiss’ goal was ruled out offside by VAR.

However, Wolves striker Raul Jimenez gave his side the lead, which also turned out as the winning goal, in the 70th minute as the Mexican’s strike took a huge deflection from Kalvin Phillips before finding the nets.

Marcelo Bielsa also handed Raphinha his debut in the final minutes of the game but it was already too late for the Whites, with them suffering their second defeat of the season.

Leeds were brilliant since their opening defeat against Liverpool but are now given a reality check by Wolverhampton.

Meanwhile, Wolves have recovered from their shattering defeats against Manchester City and West Ham United.

Bielsa also offered his thoughts on the defeat, emphasizing the lack of attacking influence and the physicality of the game with interventions played a big role.
