Newcastle 2-2 Tottenham: Kane’s brace goes in vain, Willock’s late equaliser denies 3-points for Spurs

Lokomotiv Plovdiv 1-2 Tottenham Spurs stumble over the finish line in tricky away game

Spurs held to a draw by Newcastle United after Joe Willock scored a late equaliser.

Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle United as Harry Kane‘s brace was cancelled out by Joe Willock’s late equaliser.

Spurs were forced on the backfoot after Joelinton slotted the ball into the nets nonchalantly.

However, the North Londoners responded quickly after Harry Kane scored the equaliser and the English striker also helped Spurs go ahead minutes later by completing his brace.

With Jose Mourinho’s men looking poised for a win at one point, Joe Willock crashed their party by scoring a late equaliser, thus helping the Magpies prevent a defeat.

A win could have helped Spurs go level with fourth-placed Chelsea but much to their dismay, they were held to a draw.

Tottenham have failed to win six Premier League games this season in which they led at half-time, the most of any side. Enemy. #NEWTOT

Kane continues to be the shining light for Spurs.

Yet another Premier League Yet another Harry Kane masterclass. However, his efforts are being much underappreciated due to Spurs’ collective result. Today was another occasion where he was completely let down by his teammates.

After the game against brace, the 27-year-old has now registered 19 goals in the Premier League this season adding to it 13 assists.

Harry Kane has reached 30 goals for club & country for the 6th time in the last 7 seasons

Insane.

Defensive lapses hurting Spurs.

Spurs conceded two goals for the evening and all came due to a lapse of concentration in their backline and Magpies were quick to pounce on it.

The North Londoners appeared to be back on track after winning four of their last five league games but it is not the result they would have expected after the international break.

Many of these white hairs they come with things I am not used to seeing in football matches at this level.

Jose Mourinho: "Same coach, different players"

I’m an Arsenal player so it does make it a bit sweeter, but I’m happy to come here and do my job. I feel like if we continue to play how we did today, we will have no problems staying in this league.

Joe Willock

I’m delighted for him. He wasn’t happy when he wasn’t in the starting line-up. However, he’s come on and got us the goal so I’m delighted he’s got one against Tottenham which will please him.

Steve Bruce on Joe Willock

He has had it tough but the one thing about Joe is he doesn’t shy away from it. Yes, we have to improve his goal tally but over a tough period he’s done very well in certain games. Today, arguably, was his best.
