Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to sign Dean Henderson on loan from Manchester United.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has made it clear to United that he wants to leave this summer to secure first-team football and try to win back a place in the England squad ahead of the World Cup in November.

The former Sheffield United loanee recently signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford after a hugely successful two-year loan spell at Bramall Lane with the hope of displacing David de Gea. But de Gea has held off his competition and is even set to hold talks over a new deal.

As a result, Henderson is looking elsewhere and is reportedly attracting interest from a host of clubs. According to 90min, United are ready to let Henderson go, and they held talks with Newcastle before the Magpies backed away from a deal.

Championship sides Sunderland and Middlesbrough have been linked, but Henderson wants to stay in the Premier League, and Forest are emerging as one of his most likely options.

But the Premier League newbies can only offer an initial loan, and United will have to cover a big percentage of his wages.

United and Forest are on good terms following James Garner’s loan, and they hope their relationship with the Red Devils will help secure a move for Henderson.
