West Ham 3-2 Leicester: Lingard double takes Hammers back to top-four

Jesse Lingard-West Ham United

The on-loan Manchester United star continued his blistering form to see off the Foxes.

There’s no stopping Jesse Lingard at the moment as the on-loan Manchester United star scored a double to help West Ham United beat Leicester City 3-2.

Hammer started the game on the front foot as Lingard scored a stunning brace in the first half.

Shortly after the break, Jared Bowen tripled the lead for the home side to pile more pressure on Brendan Rodgers’ side.

West Ham, who slipped up a 3-0 lead against Arsenal, nearly repeated the same mistake as Foxes pounced on the defensive mistake to get their first goal with the help of Kelechi Iheanacho. The Nigerian striker went on to add another one in the injury time but Hammers sustained late pressure from the visitors to grab three points.

West Ham have now picked up back to back thrilling wins in a row following their victory against Wolves last week.

David Moyes’ side has now climbed back to the fourth of the table, a point ahead of Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Leicester have slumped of late – back to back defeats now – and failed to close the gap with Manchester United, who are second in the table.

Lingard’s scintillating form helping West Ham in the title race

Following tonight’s brace, Jesse Lingard has taken his goal tally to eight in nine appearances, adding to it three assists.

Lingard had remained dormant at Man Utd over the years before his loan move to West Ham helped him unleash his full potential.

With Moyes’ side currently competing for the Champions League, Lingard’s presence could be vital for the remainder of the season.
