Bayern looks to have won the race for the Spanish midfielder.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez could join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich this summer after falling out with manager Diego Simeone.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Bayern have offered Atletico a pleasing offer worth £68m for Atletico for the signing of Saul.

The Spanish midfielder, who was part of the Atletico squad that won the La Liga title, is looking for green pastures after said to have fallen out with Simeone.

It comes as a huge blow for Manchester United, who have been keen on the Spaniard for a while.

Saul has been serving Los Rojiblancos since his youth ranks and has made more than 300 appearances for the senior team.

A regular for the Spanish national team since 2016, Saul has failed to earn a spot for the upcoming Euro 2020.

Atletico are said to have identified Udinese midfielder, Rodrigo de Paul as an alternative for the 26-year-old.

The report also adds that the La Liga champions will use half of Saul’s transfer fee in their pursuit of De Paul.

Bayern are planning to reinforce their midfield ranks in order to continue their dominance in Bundesliga for next season.

While Marc Roca has failed to fulfil his expectations, Bayern believe his Spanish compatriot Saul could add much value to the squad, especially filling in the void left by Thiago Alcantara.

Saul has predominantly operated as a box-to-box midfielder, but Simeone has often utilised him in the left-back position in recent years.

The transfer fee might look a hefty one, but Bayern can strike gold with a player like Saul.
