Empoli have maintained a solid start to the season with just two losses in seven games. 

However, Paolo Zanetti’s side have recorded four draws and just one win which came against Bologna. just before the International break. 

After gaining promotion to the Serie A in the 2020/21 campaign, Empoli secured a place in the Italian top-flight by finishing in 14th place last season and will be looking to secure yet another top-flight finish this season, and Paolo Zanetti who replaced Aurelio Andreazzoli will be under pressure to ensure that The Blues remain in the Italian top-flight. 

With three straight losses against the Milan-based side, Empoli will have to do better than in previous encounters to beat the Serie A Champions.

AC Milan succumbed to a 1-2 loss to Napoli in their last outing before the international break, relinquishing the top spot to Luciano Spalletti’s side in the process.

The Rossoneri now find themselves in fifth place after seven rounds of football and will be keen to bounce back from their defeat to continue their title defence. 

Stefano Pioli’s side have so far made a good start to the season, but the Italian tactician will be keen to ensure his side closes the gap on the League leaders with a win against Empoli.

Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao have ensured that Stefano Pioli’s side have not lacked goals with the French veteran chipping in with five goals and the Portuguese with three.

The Rossoneri will be optimistic of their chances coming up against Paolo Zanetti’s side with their attacking duo leading the lines once more.
