Borussia Dortmund identify Lyon's Memphis Depay as Jadon Sancho alternative

Sancho has been widely speculated to leave Signal Iduna Park this summer.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly planning to sign Lyon ace Memphis Depay as they prepare for life without Jadon Sancho.

Sancho remains a priority for Manchester United this summer, with Borussia Dortmund recently reducing the asking price to £60m – just the initial fee – for their star forward.

The Red Devils are expected to fight tooth and nails for the 20-year-old, which means Dortmund are unlikely to hold on to him beyond this summer. Meanwhile, United have secured their spot in the Champions League, making it easier to lure Sancho to Old Trafford.

Dortmund have been previously linked with Werder Bremen forward Milot Rashica in an attempt to find a replacement for Sancho.

Now, Die Borussen have turned their attention towards Lyon forward Depay, who is reportedly valued at £41m.

The 26-year-old had enjoyed a brilliant season with Les Gones before suffering an injury last December. However, the former Manchester United star has returned to fold after starring in the Coupe de la Ligue final against PSG. He is also expected to start for the Champions League knockout clash against Juventus.

Depay would be a perfect foil for Erling Haaland and also ease the departure of Sancho. The Netherlands international has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta looking keen on his transfer.

Before the injury, Depay was in a rich vein of form, racking up 14 goals and two assists in 18 games across all competitions.
