The Armenian midfielder’s contract at Roma expires this summer.

Jose Mourinho, who is set to become the manager of AS Roma, is reportedly not against the continuity of midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

There were doubts about Mkhitaryan’s future once it was announced that Mourinho would be the new manager of Giallorossi since both had a troubled relationship during their time at Manchester United.

The Armenian midfielder, who was a hit at Borussia Dortmund, failed to live up to his expectations at Old Trafford, and Mourinho, manager of the Red Devils then, often complained about the midfielder’s performances. Mkhitaryan eventually left Man Utd to join fellow rivals Arsenal in a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez.

Perhaps, Mkhitaryan recently spoke about Mourinho, stating that the Portuguese manager was a hard man to please.

“He’s a winner by nature. He wants you to win, and you do what he asks you. It’s difficult for anyone. There have been differences and conflicts, but they have not had a strong impact on good work, and the three trophies won.”

The former Dortmund star also added about the instances where Mourinho blamed him for his inconsistency.

“Once Mourinho saw me at breakfast and said to me: ‘Because of you, the press criticises me.”

“I replied: ‘Really, mister? I’m not doing it on purpose. “
