Napoli 6-0 Fiorentina: Insigne runs the show as Napoli annihilate La Viola

Lorenzo Insigne-Napoli

The Partenopei ran riot against hapless Fiorentina, hitting six past them.

Napoli produced a thumping 6-0 win at home against Fiorentina to move to third position in the table.

Lorenzo Insigne was on song at Stadio San Paolo as he racked up two goals and an assist.

The Italian winger opened the account shortly after the game began, placing the ball precisely into the nets assisted by Petagna.

Fiorentina was lively after the first goal, with Franck Ribery testing David Ospina from close range and Cristiano Biraghi’s shot was close to finding the nets.

However, La Viola’s hopes were dented following back to back goals from Napoli in the space of no time before the half time. Diego Demme arrived at the right time to find the nets and later Hirving Lozano found himself at the receiving end of Insigne’s magical through ball.

Further woes awaited the visitors in the second half as Piotr Zielinski scored the fourth goal for the Neopolitan before Insigne completed his brace from the penalty spot. Matteo Politano capped off the game with a goal at the stroke of normal time.

Gennaro Gattuso’s men have climbed to the third position in the table following the emphatic win.

Following the defeat against Lazio, Napoli have now gone five games without a defeat.

The win against Fiorentina would have provided Gattuso’s men with more confidence ahead of the SuperCoppa Italiana final against Juventus next week.
