AC Milan have made an impressive start to the season under Stefano Pioli and they will be hoping to build on this and challenge for trophies this season.
The Italian giants are currently level on points with Inter Milan at the top of the Italian league standings and they will be hoping to win the Serie A title this season.
Milan have started the Champions League campaign impressively as well and despite a defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the group opener they managed to put on a superb showing.
The Italian side have shown tremendous fighting spirit and character under Pioli this season and their determination and mental fortitude could lead them to trophies eventually.
Milan have a good balance of youth and experience. Talented young players like Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz are perfectly blended with the experience of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud. Defensively, the likes of Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori have looked rock-solid and Kessie has done well to dominate the midfield proceedings so far.
It is too early to say whether the fallen giants of Italian football are well and truly back but there is no doubt that the fans can be excited with their improvement and Pioli certainly has an ambitious project at his disposal now.
It is the start of a long and arduous journey for AC Milan and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain their consistency and fighting spirit over the next few months.
With the likes of Juventus currently struggling to replicate their peak form, this is a golden opportunity for Milan to swoop in and launch a proper challenge for the title.
Inter Milan’s title-winning squad was dismantled during the summer transfer window and manager Antonio Conte has left his post as well.
The defending champions are unlikely to be as good as last season and it will be interesting to see if Milan can make the most of their opportunity now.
