Udinese 0-0 Inter: Inter fail to go top after a goalless draw, Conte sees red

Lautaro Martinez-Inter Milan

Inter Milan have failed to go past arch-rivals AC Milan to the first of the table after the Udinese draw.

Inter Milan have been held to a goalless draw against strugglers Udinese at Friuli, thus failing to reach the top spot of the league.

The Nerazzurri were exquisite in their last game against Juventus and also expected to carry the winning momentum against struggling  Udinese.

Lautaro Martinez kept Udinese’s defence busy after scoring an off-side goal and also had a shot saved by high-flying goalkeeper Juan Musa. The Udine shot-stopper was perhaps the saving grace for his side after making a string of fine saves.

However, there was a lot of drama post the lacklustre draw as Inter manager Antonio Conte was sent off for dissent.

Udinese rightfully deserved the draw for holding Inter throughout the game but it remains to be seen how they will build on from this point. They also became the first team to concede no goals against Inter  this season.

Inter are currently two points behind their arch-rivals AC Milan, who have also dropped points in their latest defeat against Atalanta.

Furthermore, Nerazzurri have slipped up their opportunity to go to the top of the table for another time this season. Conte’s side will next face Milan in the derby in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals and it remains to be seen whether they can get back into the winning ways.
