Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will turn their attention to the Champions League, where they will welcome Dutch side Ajax to the iconic Signal Iduna Park.

The Bundesliga side were embarrassed by their visitors the last time they met and will look to get revenge when they play host to them this Wednesday.

Although Marco Rose’s side were beaten 4-0 by Ajax in their last UCL game, they have since recovered to win three games on the bounce.

Their last two games have produced two consecutive clean sheets—the first time they have done so since March this year.

With six points to their name in this group, their aim will now be to pick all three points here and keep their grip on second place.

Meanwhile, Rose is still without star striker Erling Haaland while Raphael Guerreiro, Nico Schulz and Mateu Morey are all confirmed out. Dan-Axel Zagadou, Giovanni Reyna, Mahmoud Dahoud and Marcel Schmelzer are also injury doubts for this fixture.

Possible Borussia Dortmund starting line-ups

Gregor Kobel, Emre Can , Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Thomas Meunier; Jude Bellingham, Axel Witsel, Julian Brandt; Marco Reus, Thorgan Hazard, Donyell Malen.

Ajax

Ajax will look to continue their impressive start to the Champions League when they travel to Dortmund this Wednesday.

The Eredivisie side are top of Group C after picking up three wins in three games. In that period, they scored 11 times and conceded just once. Also, they are without an away loss in over ten months and will look to keep their respectable away record intact.

However, Eerik ten Haag will be without goalkeepers Maarten Stekelenburg and Andre Onana while Sean Klaiber, Zakaria Labyad and Noussair Mazraoui are still unavailable as they continue to recuperate from their respective injuries.

Possible Ajax starting line-ups

Remko Pasveer, Rensch, Lisandro Martinez, Jurrien Timber, Daley Blind, Ryan Gravenberch, Mohammed Kudus, Steven Berghuis, Davy Klaassen, Dusan Tadic, Sebastien Haller.

Prediction

Borussia Dortmund and Ajax share a similar football philosophy and have proven that on their day they can be exciting to watch. But this game presents an opportunity for BVB to prove that they are ahead of their Dutch rivals. They will also want to avenge their 4-0 loss at the Amsterdam Arena.

However, an injury to their star striker, Erling Haaland, makes the job difficult for the hosts, while Ajax will also struggle without their two main goalkeepers.
