France striker Karim Benzema has ruled out the possibility of missing the Euro 2020 game against Germany as he insisted that he is 100% fit to compete on Monday.

The Real Madrid striker is one of the top players to watch out for in the tournament as he is returning to the national team after a long hiatus.

However, the 33-year-old suffered an injury setback during Les Bleus’ final warm-up game against Bulgaria, leading doubts to his participation in the match against Germany.

Benzema has now said that he feels completely fit to play in France’s opening game on Monday.

“I’m very good. I was able to resume training with the group yesterday.

There was no pain. I didn’t think about the fact that I could have had to forfeit the Euros.

“It was a big pain, but it was only a blow. It was not necessary to stay more minutes on the ground so as not to force it, so I decided to go out.

“We have a very good medical staff, so everything was done very quickly. If I resumed training with the group yesterday, it is because I have no discomfort, no pain.

“I feel good; I worked in the gym, so I am 100%.”

Warner hails Benzema as one of the best strikers

Ahead of their first game against France in Euro 2020, Timo Werner has heaped praises on Benzema, calling him one of the best strikers around.

“It certainly doesn’t make France worse! Benzema is one of the best No 9s in the world, ” Werner said.

Of course, you learn something from a striker like Benzema. Just because he has achieved a lot, but also because of his quality. For me, he is incredible with the ball, the way he dribbles, the way he moves, the way he finishes.”

The Chelsea forward also spoke about the potential danger France’s forward could bring while hailing the trio Griezmann-Benzema- Mbappe as world-class.

Much to his prediction, France are without a doubt one of the favourites for Euro 2020 as they will look to establish their dominance again after winning the World Cup in 2018.

Benzema managed to earn a deserved call-up to the national team after six years after enjoying more consistency with Los Blancos over the last few seasons.

Perhaps, the former Lyon star ended up racking up 23 goals and 9 assists in La Liga 2020/21, adding to it six goals in the Champions League.
