Galatasary

Turkish heavyweights Galatasaray will look to book their place in the next round of the 2021/22 Europa League when they welcome Marseille to Istanbul.

The hosts come into this round of fixtures sitting on top of the table after winning two and drawing two of their opening four games of the tournament. They are three points ahead of Lazio in second and will be guaranteed a place in the next round if they win this game.

A 2-1 loss to fierce rivals Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig over the weekend ended a run of seven games without defeat at home for Fatih Terim’s men, who will be desperate to keep their unbeaten start to the UEL intact.

The Turkish giants have only conceded one goal in the competition this year with Francois Kamano’s equaliser for Lokomotiv in their last UEL clash the only time the host’s defence has been bridged in the 2021-22 Europa League so far.

Possible Galatasaray starting line-ups

Fernando Muslera; DeAndre Yedlin, Marcao, Victor Nelsson, Patrick van Aanholt; Taylan Antalyalı, Berkan Kutlu; Kerem Aktürkoğlu, Alexandru Cicaldau, Sofiane Feghouli; Halil Dervisoglu.

Injured: Arda Turan, Omar Elabdellaoui, Sacha Boey

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Marseille

Marseille will look to get their first win of the 2021/22 UEL group stage when they travel to Turkey this Thursday.

The French giants have drawn all their opening group games so far and are entering this round, sitting third on the table and four points behind their hosts who lead the table.

The visitors last 90 minutes game came before the international break as they could not play their weekend game with Lyon on Sunday because of crowd violence. The game with Lyon was abandoned after four minutes when a section of the Lyon crowd threw a water bottle on Marseille’s star man Dimitri Payet.

The incident means that Les Olympiens have had more time to rest, giving them a slight advantage in this game.

However, their form heading into this tie has been patchy as they have failed to win any of their opening Europa League games so far. They have also drawn five of their last seven games in all competitions and are in danger of dropping down to the Europa Conference League if they cannot find a win.

Possible Marseille starting line-ups

Steve Mandanda; Valentin Rongier, William Saliba, Duje Caleta-Car, Luan Peres; Konrad De La Fuente, Gerson, Matteo Guendouzi, Pol Lirola; Dimitri Payet; Arkadiusz Milik.

Injured: None

Doubtful: Cengiz Under

Suspended: None
