Trabzonspor

Turkish champions Trabzonspor will welcome Monaco to Medical Park Stadium looking to win their first win in three games.

The hosts were beaten 3-1 by Monaco in the reverse fixture in Stade Louis II. The result was facilitated by an early red card to Maximiliano Gomez with the Principality club capitalizing on their numerical advantage to win the game thanks to two goals from Ben Yedder and Axel Disasi.

They followed that loss with an underwhelming domestic draw at home to Kasimpasa, leaving them down in seventh in the Turkish league after nine rounds, albeit just a point adrift of the Süper Lig leaders.

In the Europa League, they are also in a similarly tight group, with the potential for all four sides to be locked on the same points total after this round. They currently sit in third with three points. But they can draw level with current Group H leaders Ferencvaros if they win this game and Crvena Zvezda wins against Ferencvaros.

However, Abdullah Avcı’s men have a wretched record in this competition, with victory over Red Star Belgrade their only success in their last ten matches (D1, L8). Playing on home soil should provide confidence though, with their last competitive loss on their own turf coming back in August 2021 (W19, D10 since).

Possible Trabzonspor starting line-up

Ugurcan Cakir; Jens Larsen; Marc Bartra, Stefano Denswil, Evren Eren Elmali; Marek Hamsik, Manolis Siopis; Trezeguet, Yusuf Yazici, Enis Bardhi; Anastasios Bakasetas.

Injured: Dorukhan Tokoz

Doubtful: Edin Visca, Serkan Asan

Suspended: Maximiliano Gomez

Monaco

Monaco will look to make it five wins in five games when they travel to Trabzon on Thursday.

The visitors have been in imperious form lately with four wins in their last four competitive games, scoring 12 goals along the way. Their last win in that period was a 2-0 victory over Montpellier in Ligue 1 while conceding just one shot on target in the game.

The win made it four wins on their road travels for Philippe Clement’s men who also kept four clean sheets in those four games.

Having responded perfectly to a shock home defeat at the hands of Ferencváros, the Monégasques will look to win this game to keep their chances of winning this group alive.

However, their record away from home in the UEL is a poor one, with just four wins in their last 12 road trips in this competition (D4, L4). So that could provide optimism for their Turkish hosts who are unbeaten in their last seven home games (W4, D3).

Possible Monaco starting line-up

Alex Nubel; Vanderson, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiasshile, Caio Henrique; Mohamed Camara, Youssouf Fofana, Krepin Diatta, Aleksandr Golovin; Breel Embolo; Wissam Ben Yedder.

Injured: Gelson Martins, Kevin Volland, Ruben Aguilar, Willem Geubbels

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
