Frankfurt stunned second-place Leverkusen with an incredible come-back

Bayer Leverkusen missed the chance to go top of the table after 2-1 defeat against the hosts Frankfurt, who produced an incredible come back.

Frankfurt were put on the backfoot in the 9th minute after Nadiem Amiri scored a brilliant goal for the visitors, leaving goalkeeper Kevin Trapp in tatters.

The 24-year-old midfielder continued his brilliant form in Bundesliga as he scored his second goal of the season, adding to it six assists.

It didn’t take long for Frankfurt to respond as Amine Younes scored the equaliser while also opening his account in Bundesliga this season.

Leverkusen couldn’t have asked for a terrible start in the second half as Frankfurt’s Daichi Kamada’s strike was turned into his own nets by Taposba.

The own goal remained as the only goal in the second period as Frankfurt edge out the mighty Leverkusen with a brilliant come-back.

Frankfurt have maintained their good form for the past few weeks as they remain unbeaten for the last three games including the six-goal thriller, which ended in a draw against Monchengladbach with the help of a hat-trick from Lars Stindl.

On the other hand, Peter Bosz’s side has slumped for the second straight game following the 2-1 defeat against leaders Bayern Munich.

Leverkusen had a great chance to leapfrog the Bavarians to the top of the table albeit playing a game more than them, but that wasn’t the case.

Frankfurt have ascended to eighth in the table following the comeback win.
