The Bavarians are keen on signing Ajax defender Sergino Dest.

Sergino Dest

Bayern Munich are said to be having the upper hand in the transfer quest for Ajax right-back Sergino Dest.

According to reports, Bayern Munich are getting closer to sign the USMNT international, who is also followed by Barcelona.

The Bavarians look to have found the breakthrough in the pursuit of Dest after weeks of transfer talks.

Meanwhile, Barca have identified Ajax youngster as the ideal replacement for Nelson Semedo, who has agreed to move to Premier League outfit Wolves.

The Amsterdam outfit are demanding a fee of around €20m for Dest and Bayern could afford it following the sale of Thiago. Bayern have generated €30m from Thiago’s transfer and would now look to use in the transfer of Dest.

David Alaba

Meanwhile, David Alaba is expecting a new deal from the Bundesliga champions as his current deal expires next summer.

Earlier, it was reported that the Austrian is against the idea of continuing with Bayern, even confirmed by the CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Bayern President Herbert Hainer also spoke about their new offer for Alaba.

“We’re still talking with David Alaba, no question about it, and I hope that we can still convince him because we have made him a really competitive offer.”

Alaba has been linked with a move to Manchester City, Manchester United and Barcelona.

The 28-year-old has spent around a decade with the Bavarians, making more than 300 appearances.
