Chelsea News: Blues enter the race for Wijnaldum, Donnarumma transfer boost, Mount praised by Keane

Gianluigi Donnarumma-AC Milan

Chelsea in contention for Wijnaldum.

Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum as Thomas Tuchel sees him as a good addition.

Wijnaldum’s contract expires this summer and he is expected to leave Anfield after rejecting a contract extension.

Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and PSG are also understood to be in the race for the 30-year-old.

Donnarumma transfer boost

Chelsea have been handed a huge transfer boost in their pursuit of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after his extension talks have reportedly hit a stumbling block.

The young Italian keeper’s contract expires this summer and has been long linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Although Rossoneri are said to have offered a contract worth £115,000-a-week, talks with Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola have been stalled at the moment.

Roy Keane heaps praise on Mason Mount

Blues midfielder Mason Mount put on another impressive display for England against Poland, which helped him earn rave reviews, especially from Roy Keane.

Keane also labelled the naysayers of Mount as idiots.

“Well, that is pretty important, that your manager likes you. Doesn’t matter what people outside the game think, there are a lot of idiots out there.

“Ultimately, I think the players pick the team and he has performed well enough for every manager to say ‘listen you are going to be in my starting line up’. Outstanding player. He wants to be an all round midfielder.

“I never hear anything negative about him off the pitch, he seems a brilliant young kid, he has gone out on loan he has done it the hard way. He is a fantastic player.”
