Spain 3-1 Kosovo: Olmo, Torres on the scoresheet as Spain cruise to comfortable win

Alvaro Morata-Spain

The Spaniards continued their impressive run with a comprehensive victory over Kosovo.

Spain defeated Kosovo 3-1 in their third game of the World Cup Qualifiers to move top of their group.

Luis Enrique’s men pulled off a last-gasp win against Georgia days ago and entered today’s game with higher spirits.

It was evident when Spain’s attackers showed intentions right off the bat but struggled for a while to find the back of nets. However, it was only until the 34th minute when Dani Olmo, the hero against Georgia, produced a stunning goal to go ahead. Ferran Torres followed up with another equally brilliant goal minutes later after an exquisite pass from Pedri, who registered his first international assist.

Kosovo halved the deficit in the 70th minute after goalkeeper Unai Simons was caught off guard in the middle of the pitch, allowing Halimi to score from a great distance.

However, Spain put the game beyond doubt when Gerard Moreno headed in Koke’s corner.

It was a far more convincing performance from the home side than compared to the other games and now they have pushed Sweden to second in the table.

Pedri lived up to his promise once again while his Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets controlled the things nonchalantly from the middle of the park.

Alvaro Morata improvised from his last game albeit not scoring a goal, but his ability to drop deep and clever movements inside the box add the cutting edge to their attack.
