AC Milan director Paolo Maldini has claimed that the club wants to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the next season as well.
The Swedish forward arrived on a short term deal earlier this season and he has been outstanding for Milan. He has 10 goals in 18 appearances.
His arrival coincided with Milan’s upturn in form as well. It is no surprise that the Italian giants want to keep him at the club for another season.
Despite his age, Zlatan looks supremely fit and sharp. He could make a big difference to the Milan attack if he plays a whole season.
It will be interesting to see if Milan can negotiate the deal with the player and his representatives now.
Ibrahimovic will be an expensive acquisition and it remains to be seen whether the Italian giants can afford him.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, per The Sun, Milan are ready to increase Ibrahimovic’s salary and offer him a 2-year deal. He could potentially get an offer of £104,000-a-week, based on certain conditions.
The player seems hungry as ever to deliver at the highest level and Milan could use his quality and experience next season as they look to return to the Champions League.
Speaking to the media, Maldini said: “We have created something this season which needs continuity. Zlatan is part of this project. It won’t be any easy negotiation but we want to move forward with him. In attack with him we feel content, then there are Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao as well as other young players who can grow exponentially with him. That is our line.”
