Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has ruled out a return for Neymar this summer.

Speaking to the media, Bartomeu revealed that PSG won’t sell any key players this summer and therefore a move is not possible.

He went on to confirm that the club is interested in signing Lautaro Martinez and they have already spoken to Inter Milan about it.

Bartomeu said: “In the case of Lautaro the negotiation is stopped right now, we spoke with Inter a few weeks ago. We are in an analysis phase. I don’t think PSG will put any player on the market and Neymar is playing for PSG.”

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can sign the Argentine this summer.

They need to improve their attacking options and Lautaro could be the long term replacement for Luis Suarez.

Neymar’s return would have been a major boost for them but it seems unlikely right now.

The Brazilian was a star player for Barcelona during his time at the club and he has formed a lethal partnership with Suarez and Messi in the attack.

Messi is thought to be keen on his return but the finances involved in any potential move will be complicated.

Meanwhile, the Barcelona president delivered an important update on the future of Lionel Messi as well.

He confirmed that the Argentine superstar will be at the club next season. Messi has been linked with a move away from the club recently.

“Leo Messi fits in with what Barca want to do in the next few years,” he told.

“His contract ends in June next year and he’s in peak form to be able to play for two or three more years. I’m sure he will renew. I have no doubt that he will continue. Our relationship is fluid and he is not angry. What happened with the wage reduction is that some people at the club talked too much, but they aren’t here anymore.”
