Napoli have confirmed that Gennaro Gattuso will not continue next season.

Napoli are on the hunt for a new manager after confirming that Gennaro Gattuso will leave the club.

The Naples-based club endured a fluctuating season in Serie A, eventually failing to qualify for the Champions League on the final matchday. A win against Hellas Verona could have pushed them to top-four; however, they ended up drawing 1-1, meaning they will play in Europa League next season.

In the aftermath, Napoli confirmed that they would be parting ways with Gattuso after a one-and-half season.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis tweeted: “Dear Rino, I am happy to have spent almost two seasons with you. Thank you for your work, and I wish you success wherever you go. A hug also to your wife and children.”

The Partenopei have reportedly identified Porto manager Sergio Conceicao to lead the team from next season.

Conceicao’s managerial stint at Porto has been nothing short of impressive, inspiring them to win a handful of trophies.

The most notable ones were the Primeira Liga title in the 2017/18 and 2019/20 seasons, and he also won the best manager award in both the title-winning seasons.

Conceicao’s Porto had earlier trumped Juventus in the Champions League this season, knocking them out in the round of 16.

The 46-year-old has some good memories in Italy as he spent half of his playing career in Serie A, representing clubs like Lazio, Parma and Inter Milan.
