Aston Villa and Brighton played out a goalless draw in the Premier League earlier tonight.
Dean Smith’s men have been in impressive form this season and he will be slightly disappointed to have dropped two points here.
However Brighton have beaten the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham in the recent weeks and it is hardly surprising that they have managed to grind out a draw at home.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was the star of the show as he helped the away side come away with a point from the game.
The likes of Leandro Trossard and Dan Burn had impressive opportunities for the home side but they were denied by Martinez in the first half.
Ross Barkley had a good chance for the away side in the first half as well but Robert Sanchez managed to keep the ball out of the net.
Martinez improved in the second half and produced outstanding saves from Alexis Mac Allister, Joel Veltman and Adam Lallana to keep his 12th clean sheet of the season.
The Aston Villa star produced nine saves to earn a point for his side tonight. He has been outstanding for Villa since his move from Arsenal.
The draw takes Aston Villa up to 8th in the table with 36 points and Brighton remained 15th with 26 points.
Villa have shown impressive defensive organisation this season and they will fancy their chance of qualifying for the Europa League if they can build on their recent performances.
