Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Wolfsburg: Sancho breaks goal drought as Dortmund earn 3-points

Dortmund 1-0 Freiburg - Jadon Sancho kept Borussia in title hunt

Jason Sancho scored his first goal of the league to hand Dortmund a much-needed win.

Borussia Dortmund have claimed three points after beating Wolfsburg 2 – 0 at Signal Iduna Park, with Akanji and Sancho finding the score sheet in the second half.

The first half ended as a goalless one despite the visitors dominating the opening ten minutes and also came close to opening their account.

Dortmund dominated the proceedings in the second half and Erling Haaland, who returned from injury, was as usual posed a serious threat to Wolfsburg defenders.

Manuel Akanji broke the deadlock in the 66th minute after scoring a header from Jadon Sancho‘s corner kick.

Sancho later put the game to bed by scoring his first in the league this season and also helped Dortmund win the game 2-0.

The English winger has received a lot of stick for his decline in this season but the match-winning performance against Wolfsburg must have given him enough confidence. Furthermore, Sancho has been subject to transfer of top clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool in recent weeks.

Die Borussen have recovered well from their defeat against Union Berlin, adding to it the rough patch they have gone through previously, and it will be interesting to see how they will build on from this win.

Edin Terzic would also be delighted to win his second game in Bundesliga as the manager of Dortmund.

Die Borussen are up against RB Leipzig in their next league game, which will be played next Saturday.
