Everton have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of their trip to Newcastle United and midfielder James Rodriguez has been ruled out of the game.
The 29 year old midfielder has been in sensational form since moving to Goodison Park and he has managed to score three goals in seven appearances for the Merseyside outfit.
The Colombian attacking midfielder will return to action against Manchester United next Saturday.
“He has played all the [Premier League] games, he had a little problem so he needs to rest for this game and he will be available for the next game,” Ancelotti said.
It will be interesting to see how Everton cope without his creativity this weekend. He has been the team’s main creator so far and Everton might struggle to create too many chances without him.
Everton have started the season really well and Rodriguez has been crucial to their achievements so far.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin Is recovering from a major Achilles injury and he could return to playing next month.
According to reports, Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful that the 25 year old midfielder will return to training soon.
The former Bundesliga player has had rotten luck with injuries since his move to Everton and he will be hoping to get his career at Goodison Park back on track this season.
