Oliver Kahn hits out at David Alaba’s agent

Bayern Munich defender David Alaba is expected to leave the club at the end of this season when his contract expires.

The German club wanted to hold on to the Austrian beyond this season but the player’s agent has made it difficult to reach an agreement.

The club’s director Oliver Kahn believes that Alaba’s agent is disconnected from reality. The former German international also revealed how the behaviour of Pini Zahavi left him disillusioned.

“In a certain way, I am actually disaffected because I notice a disconnection from reality, which is breathtaking,” Kahn said of his dealings with Zahavi during an interview with Kicker.

The Bayern chief added: “We appreciate David Alaba very much, he is an extraordinary person, always friendly and open. Although we tried everything to keep him, no agreement was reached.

Michael Zorc on Erling Haaland future

Borussia Dortmund are hoping to hold onto Erling Haaland for as long as possible.

Club chief Michael Zorc has claimed that Dortmund will prioritize their games in the Bundesliga over the Champions League so that they can secure European football for the next season.

“I have never seen someone like him. We can search Europe-wide,” the Dortmund sporting director told Welt am Sonntag. “If he ever left us somewhere, there would only be a handful of clubs, but we’ll try to keep him as long as possible for sporting reasons.”

“We don’t want to play in the Europa League on Thursdays. We want to give our calling card in the Champions League,” he added with Dortmund currently sitting fifth in the table.

They need to qualify for the Champions League hold on to players like Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho and it will be interesting to see if they can turn their domestic season around in the coming weeks.

The German side have been quite mediocre this season and they will have to improve a lot in order to secure Champions League qualification for the next season.

Haaland has been linked with several top European clubs over the past year and it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.
