Leicester 2-2 Man United: Vardy spoils the party for United with a late equaliser

Bruno Fernandes’ second-half strike was cancelled out by Jamie Vardy.

Manchester United have been held to a 2-2 draw by Leicester City at King Power Stadium, with Jamie Vardy grabbing a late equaliser.

The contest was touted as an exciting one as the winners could close the gap with table leaders Liverpool.

Marcus Rashford put the visitors ahead in the 23rd minute as the ball from Daniel James took a slight touch of the foot of Bruno Fernandes before it went to the forward. Rashford also reached his 50th goal in the Premier League with the strike.

Leicester levelled it up not long after with a brilliant left-footed strike from Harvey Barnes.

The second half saw plenty of action as Fernandes, who provided the assist for the first goal, put United on the front foot again after making most of substitute Edinson Cavani’s pass.

As the game approached the final ten minutes, Jamie Vardy crashed the party for the Red Devils as his strike flew past David de Gea before taking a deflection off Axel Tuanzebe’s legs.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, who have earned the reputation for coming from behind, tasted their own medicine after the Foxes’ late drama.

United’s defence was at fault for both the goals and it will be something Solskjaer would be looking into in the coming games.

The result hasn’t had a bigger change in the points table as Brendan Rodgers’ side are still second in the table, with United trailing them by a point.
