Fußball-Club Bayern München e. V.

Founded In: 27 February 1990

Nickname: Die Bayern

Slogan: Mia San Mia

Ground: Allianz Arena(Capacity- 75,000)

Opening: 20 May 2005

President: Herbert Hainer

When the football team members of Munich Gymnastics Club were not invited to join the club, FC Bayern Munich was founded in 1900 by 11 football players led by Franz John. Bayern won high-scoring matches against all local rivals within a few months of their formation, including a 15–0 victory over FC Nordstern.

Bayern entered the newly formed “Kreisliga,” Bavaria’s first regional league. This was the club’s first year in the championship, and they won it. Coach Richard “Little Dombi” Kohn led the team to their first national title in 1932 when they won the German championship. The club struggled financially, though, verging on bankruptcy at the end of the 1950s

In 1963, Germany’s Oberligas were merged into the Bundesliga, a single national league. Bayern finished third in the Bundesliga and also claimed the DFB-Pokal in their first season. This qualified them for the European Cup Winners’ Cup the following year, which they won. Bayern won their first UEFA European cup in 1974.

Bayern won the Bundesliga and came close to winning the Champions League in Hitzfeld’s first season as coach, losing 2–1 to Manchester United.

After a 25-year wait, Bayern won the Champions League for the fourth time in 2001.

In 2020, the club won the league and the cup, making it the club’s 13th domestic double under coach Flick. After FC Barcelona, the team also won the UCL against PSG, making them the second team in history to win two trebles.

Bayern has been home to countless legends, most prominently German legends. Top players like Oliver Kahn, Paul Breitner, Gerd Muller and Franz Beckenbauer have dedicated their career to the club. A dynamic wing duo of Robbery – Robben and Ribery was something that everyone feared.

Gerd Müller is the all-time top scorer with 563 goals. Sepp Maier holds the record for most appearances (700).

Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich’s football matches are known as “Der Klassiker” or “The Classic.” This is the most important match in the Bundesliga, and it has always been the most-watched match in the league. In the Champions League final in 2013, these two teams faced off at Wembley for the trophy. Bayern Munich secured the Bundesliga after Arjen Robben scored a dramatic 89th-minute winner. Bayern dominated for the better part, and they lead the wins with 73wins.
