Muller credits Hansi Flick for transforming his Bayern Munich fortunes

Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller has heaped praise on manager Hansi Flick for helping him regain his form once again.

The 31-year-old star fell out of favour when Niko Kovac was in charge of the German champions but Flick allowed him to recapture his form and establish himself as an influential player last season.

At one point it seemed like the German international would be heading out of Bayern Munich but his upturn in form has cemented his place in the starting lineup once again.

The former World Cup winner managed to score 14 goals during last year’s treble-winning campaign and he is delighted with his change of fortune under Hansi Flick.

Speaking to Bundesliga’s official website, Muller explained how Flick played an important role in his rejuvenation and how the Bayern Munich manager changed his positioning and role in the side to get the best out of him.

He said: “If you imagine it like a share price, the value for both the team and for myself has gone up dramatically since Hansi took over. I have had a lot of playing time and I was able to put in a lot of good performances on the road to winning the title and gaining the success that we achieved as a team. Hansi played a very important role, especially in terms of my positioning on the pitch and my role in the team. We have a strong connection, but it is one that only works if we keep winning as a team and if I keep putting in strong performances.”

Muller still has a few years left at the top level and he will be hoping to build on his form from the last season and guide Bayern to more silverware this season.

The Bayern Munich star will certainly go down in the club’s history as a legend for what he has managed to achieve with them so far. Muller has managed to make a similar impact on the national team as well and he is one of their most prolific scorers in the World Cup.
