Schalke 0-3 RB Leipzig: Visitors climb up to second in the Bundesliga table

Marcel Sabitzer-RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig picked up a 3-0 win over Schalke in the Bundesliga earlier today.

The away side were overwhelming favourites to win today and they managed to step up and get the job done.

Schalke have been one of the worst teams in the League this season and they are at the bottom of the table right now.

Despite their poor run of form, they did well to restrict the hosts to half chances in the first half but an error from January signing Shkodran Mustafi allowed Mukiele to score the opening goal of the game with a free header.

The German defender was brought in to improve Schalke at the back but his worrying debut will now be a major concern for the fans.

Mustafi has been struggling for months now and a series of poor displays forced Arsenal to terminate his contract.

Marcel Sabitzer added the second goal of the game on the 74th minute for RB Leipzig. Orban wrapped up the scoring for the  away side with a looping header from a corner on the 87th minute.

The likes of Danny Olmo and Christopher Nkunku had the chances to increase light 6 lead in the second half but they failed to hit the target with promising chances.

Leipzig are now up to second in the table and they will fancy their chances of closing the gap with reigning champions Bayern Munich in the coming weeks.
