Dortmund 1-2 Freiburg: Terzic’s men continue their miserable run of form

Edin Terzic-Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund crashed to a 2-1 defeat against Freiburg in the Bundesliga earlier today.

The German outfit have been in miserable form this season and the fans will be thoroughly disappointed with the performance on show.

Dortmund were undoubtedly the favourites heading into the game but they have come away empty handed.

Their top four hopes are in serious jeopardy now and it will be interesting to see if Dortmund can arrest their decline in the coming weeks and transformed their season.

Freiburg manager Christian Streich had not beaten Dortmund in his previous 16 attempts and he will be delighted to have secured all three points today.

Woo-Yeong Jeong scored with a wonder strike in the second half to give Freiburg the lead and it set the tone for the rest of the game. Jonathan Schmidt doubled the away side’s advantage with a long range effort which could have been easily saved.

Roman Burki’s error gave the away side a much needed cushion and they managed to defend their advantage for the remainder of the game.

Moukoko scored a consolation goal for Dortmund late on in the game.

The likes of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland   were anonymous throughout the game and they failed to make an impact for the hosts.

Dortmund would have expected much better performances when they decided to replace Lucien Favre.

It will be interesting to see if Edin Terzic  can hold on to his job until the end of this season if his side continue to perform the way they have in recent months.
