Thomas Muller opens up about his contract situation at Bayern Munich amid Newcastle and Everton links

Thomas Muller-Bayern Munich

German international Thomas Muller is nearing the end of his contract at Bayern Munich. The player has now revealed that the German Bundesliga outfit have not offered him a contract extension yet.

According to a report from Daily Mail, Premier League sides Newcastle United and Everton are keen on signing the 33-year-old who has been an exceptional servant for club and country over the last few seasons.

The World Cup winner will be out of contract in the summer of 2023, and it remains to be seen whether Bayern Munich are willing to offer him a short term extension.

There is no doubt that Muller is a world-class player, and although he will be past his peak soon, he could still contribute immensely with his winning experience and leadership skills.

Furthermore, his game heavily depends on his tactical knowledge and intelligence instead of physical attributes. Therefore, the German can play at a high level for a long time.

Newcastle have shown tremendous ambition in the transfer market during the January transfer window, and they are likely to try for quality signings in the summer transfer window as well.

If they can pull off a signing like Muller in the summer, it could be an exceptional acquisition for them.

The experienced German international could contribute immensely on and off the pitch. Furthermore, his presence in the Newcastle dressing room is likely to boost other players.

Muller said to Bild: “No one has ever approached me from the club. So you have to see what the future will bring. What appeals to me most is sporting success and football at the highest level. Anything is possible in football. But it would (an exit) certainly be surprising given how well things are going for everyone involved (at Bayern).”
