RB Leipzig came back one goal down to make a 1-1 draw against SC Freiburg at Red Bull Arena here, as the 2019-20 Bundesliga season resumes after a 65 days break due to Coronavirus pandemic.
Leipzig, which was Bundesliga leader few matchdays back, lost 6 points in last three matches, as their third match in a row, ended up in a draw. RB Leipzig are at the third spot in the league table now, after defending champion Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
SC Freiburg vs RB Leipzig – Goals
Freiburg scored their first goal from bizarre circumstances at 33rd minute when Grifo’s corner kick deflected from Manuel Gulde to Leipzig goal. Freiburg kept hold of the lead for the next 44 minutes.
RB Leipzig captain, Yussuf Poulsen, levelled it for the host at 77th minute of the match as he headed a long ball from 8 meters into Freiburg goal.
But the host missed several opportunities in between, or instead, Schwolow thwarted Leipzig from scoring goals. Schwolow saved a powerful shot from 35 metres by Halstenberg at 52 minutes of the match. He again came to rescue his side, when he fended off a Timo Werner right-footer from 12 meters, with stretched right legs at 72 minute. Lookman missed an easy conversion from 8 metres at 56th minute.
Freiburg were little unlucky at the end when VAR ruled out their goal for offside during injury time.
