Rumoured Arsenal and Leeds United target Julian Draxler has signed a three-year contract that will see him stay at Parc des Princes until 2024.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who was set to leave on a free transfer this summer when his previous deal expired, was subject to speculations linking him to Arsenal and Leeds United. But the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as head coach changed everything for the former Schalke 04 and VfL Wolfsburg man, and he is now set to feature in the club’s ponds going forward.
Announcing the contract extension, an official statement from Paris Saint-Germain read;
“PSG is delighted to announce that Julian has signed a three-year contract extension until 30 June 2024,”
The German World Cup winner spoke of his delight at extending his stay in Paris, telling the club website: ‘I am happy to extend my stay here’.
‘It’s a pleasure to play with very great players, for a team like this. I am very happy to have extended [my contract] here,’ Draxler said.
I hope that we are going to continue to win lots of trophies in the next three seasons! We will give our all to win titles, as we do in every match.”
“The club’s ambitions have become a reality,” Draxler said. “We played in the semifinal of the Champions League this season and the final last season. We have progressed a lot, and even though we have been through highs and lows, the project is a very attractive one, and I am happy to be able to continue here.”
The midfielder has won 11 trophies since arriving from Wolfsburg in 2017.
