Edinson Cavani closing in on Manchester United exit, Corinthians in talks to sign him

Edinson Cavani-Manchester United

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is expected to leave the club.

The player’s brother has now indicated that the Uruguayan international is closing in on an exit from Old Trafford and he could join a club in South America.

The player was heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United at the start of the season as well but the former Paris Saint-Germain striker ended up staying at the Premier League club.

Cavani has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and he needs to leave the Premier League giants in order to play regular first-team football once again.

Apparently, a number of clubs in Argentina and Brazil are interested in signing the Manchester United striker.

Brazilian club Corinthians have been heavily linked with the player recently and it will be interesting to see if the two parties can agree on a deal in the coming weeks.

A report via Manchester Evening News claims that Corinthians have already spoken to Cavani’s brother who is also his agent.

“We have to wait a bit, we will see what possibilities exist,” Cavani’s brother Guglielmone said.

“Obviously, if any team from Brazil comes up with a good project, we can always listen. I have an obligation to send all options to Cavani.”

Previously the striker’s father claimed that Cavani does not feel comfortable in England and he wants to be close to his family.

The 34-year-old has done a reasonably good job since joining Manchester United on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain but he has struggled to establish himself as a key player for the Premier League outfit.

Meanwhile, Manchester United need to sign a striker for the long term as well and Cavani’s transfer away from Old Trafford would be ideal for all parties involved.
